Garage replaced sub frame kit and as soon as I got in it to

Customer Question

Garage replaced sub frame kit and as soon as I got in it to drive home I could tell the steering was not right. It is so loose when you run over a small pebble or rough spot on road the steering wheel wants to go back and forth as if it is loose and i almost lose control. I called dealer immediately and they claim it should be loose like that. In less than 3 weeks I now have no tread on my front tires. Can you help. I am calling the dealer Tuesday when they open again. Mazda 2003 model. Also, total underneath rusted and I replaced a lot of parts in 2013, not knowing this was a factory issue. Also, my gasoline tank cover is all rusted off.

I am sorry that you have not been helped yet. I just came online and saw your question

No that is not normal. Either the rack and pinion unit was damaged when the subframe was replaced, or more likely the rack and pinion was not remounted tightly and the whole unit is moving due to this. Steering should NEVER be loose.
