Customer Question

I have a 1990 Mazda truck B2600i. I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge right after the fuel filter and before the regulator. What should the fuel pressure be?

Hi Tim,
The car cranks but doesn't start. When it cranks the pressure is about 33 psi. What should I do?
Expert:  Tim Mohr replied 2 years ago.
that is not enough, it needs to be at least 38 to run, pinch off the return line to the tank and recheck it, if it still only 33 psi, thn replace the fuel pump, if it goes up when pinched, then replace the fuel pressure regulator,Tim

Can I do the "pinch" test w/o cranking and just w/ the key on the ON position?
Expert:  Tim Mohr replied 2 years ago.
yes,but cranking would be better,TIm
