Identify the degree of each term of the polynomial and the degree of the polynomial.

-9x^3+9x^2+4x+3

Math Tutor or Teacher: namstech, Electrical Engineer replied 8 years ago

The terms and their degree are

-9x^3 has a degree 3 (The co-efficient of x determines the degree here)

9x^2 has a degree 2

4x has a degree 1

3 has a degree 0

The term with the highest degree (which is 3) determines the degree of the polynomial.

So the degree of polynomial is 3.

Evaluate the polynomial for x=4.

2x^2-2x+7

Math Tutor or Teacher: namstech, Electrical Engineer replied 8 years ago

Substituting the value x = 4 in the equation.

2x^2 - 2x + 7 = 2(4)^2 - 2(4) +7 = 31
