1.Write the fraction as a mixed number.
38/3

= 12 2/3

2. Write the mixed number as an improper fraction. 7 1/9

64/9

3. Kasean's soccer game lasts for 50 minutes. What reduced fraction of an hour is that?

50/60 = 5/6

4.Find the missing number. 5/15=?/3

let the missing number be x

5/15 = x/3

crossmultiply

15 = 15x

divide each side by 15, we will get

=> 1 = x

=> x = 1

Missing number is XXXXX
5.Multiply; then reduce to lowest terms. 5 1/2.3/4

= (11/2)*(3/4) = 33/8

6. Divide; then reduce to lowest terms.1 4/7divide by 4/10

1 4/7 = 11/7

1 4/7divide by 4/10 = (11/7)/(4/10) = (11/7)*(10/4) = 110/28 = 55/14

7.Eighty people were invited to vote in the extension club's elections, and 9/10 of them voted. How many people voted in the elections?

Number of people voted in the elections = (9/10)*80 = 72

8. Richard has 17 yards of material. How many tote bags can he make if each bag takes 2/3 yards of material to make?

Number of bags = 17/(2/3) = 51/2 = 25.5

we can say that he can make 25 full bags.

9.Find the LCD and add the fractions.1/125 + 4/50

LCD = 250

1/125 + 4/50 = 2/250 + 20/250 = 22/250 = 11/125

10.Subtract; then reduce answer to lowest terms.5/22- 1/41

5/22- 1/41 = (205 - 22)/902 = 183/902

11. Andy put down 1/14 inch thick subflooring. Next, he nailed down 3/16 inch thick underlay. On top of that, he nailed down 4/14 inch thick hardwood flooring. How thick was the result?

Thickness = (1/14) + (3/16) + (4/14) = 8/112 + 21/112 + 32/112 = 61/112 inch

12. Nan brought an apple for snack time. She gave 3/4 of the apple to Will and 1/6 of the apple to Nora. How much of the apple did Nan have left?

Apple left = 1 -(3/4 + 1/6) = 1 - (9/12 + 2/12) = 1 - 11/12 = (12 - 11)/12 = 1/12

13. Translate and solve. A number n increased by 1/4 gives 1/9. Find n.

n + (1/4) = 1/9

n = 1/9 - 1/4 = (4 - 9)/36 = -5/36

n = -5/36

14. Meghann earns \$44.00 for 8 hours of work. How much will Meghann earn for 4 hours of work at the same rate of pay?

Let the earning for 4 hours be x then

x/4 = 44/8

=> x = (44/8)*4 = \$22
