I have a Humminbird 859 di he unit. My problem is that the unit turns off every time I start my boat. The unit is wired to the fuse block in my console. Should I wire it directly to the starting battery. The I-Pilot link is wired to a separate 24 volt system

Hi Kris,

this occurs because the electrical draw of the starter is so great in that instant that the sensitive electronics of the chartplotter lose power.

You can try fitting a separate starting battery to avoid this.
