What should I do about my Mercury 60 HP Bigfoot motor?

I was told my computer...

I was told my computer went out on my Mercury 60 HP Bigfoot motor. This is a authorized dealer. They told me it would be $5000 dollars but it is covered under warranty. Do you see this very often?
Also I was thinking about changing props because my motor was reaching 5200 rpm (16 mph) with me on board. The engine specs 5500 - 6000 rpm. I'm pushing a Tracker 22' Fishin Barge. Should that motor be able to reach that rpm pushing this boat. I want the motor to run efficient and get the best performance possible. Maybe this new computer will make a difference? Maybe it was wrong all along. Does a stainless steel prop make sense for a pontoon?

I've been a Mercury Certified Tech for over 28 years and working in both Florida and Minnesota have never had to replace one. So not a common occurace at all.

Yes, you should prop the Barge so that the engine rpms fall within the factory spec's.

I would shoot for the high side with a light/normal load, somewhere are out 5800-6000.

I also would want to wait untill the new ECM has been installed to do any testing for re propping.
