Hi, I am Justin. Welcome to JustAnswer. I'm reviewing your question now and will post back with your reply momentarily.
Do you have a Time Machine Backup?
If you do you will be able to erase and reinstall the OS on your computer using this guide:
Reinstall Instructions1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately hold Command (⌘)-R2. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo or a spinning globe.
2. Decide whether to erase (format) your disk
If you need to erase your disk before installing macOS, select Disk Utility from the Utilities window, then click Continue. You probably don't need to erase, unless you're selling or giving away your Mac or have an issue that requires you to erase.
3. When you see the macOS Utilities window, click Reinstall macOS.To restore from your backup you will need to use this guide: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203981
If you do not have a backup then you will need to try to manually remove the data from the computer and then perform a reinstall and the move the data back.

Ok. Well try the locations thing and then let me know.
