2011 MacBook Pro - 135 GB available on hard drive. Recently installed OS 10.13.3. Firefox is very squirrelly, loads random ads. Excel crashes regularly, Mac Mail also occasionally. Adobe Acrobat will sometimes not open a pdf. Performed a "safe start", things are better but VERY slow. Tried a normal restart and was locked out until I performed another "safe start".

Next press Command+Space to open Spotlight search and type “Activity Monitor” and press Enter. Check each of the tabs (such as CPU, Memory and Disk) and let me know if any of the processes are much too high. Check the graph located in the bottom left corner of the Activity Monitor on each tab and let me know if any of the tabs show the graph levels as red rather than green. Especially check to see if a Safari Bookmark process listed under the memory tab is consuming all the memory.
