Is it also showing a message that says to check again in a certain amount of time, or does it just say iPhone is disabled?

Simply connecting it to iTunes and restoring from an old backup should fix this.

If you haven't ever backed it up with iTunes you should install the latest version of iTunes anyway as you would need it for the next steps.

You can get it here: www.itunes.com click the blue button in the top right when you reach that page.
