I got the new IPHONEX, I cannot finshe the set up because I have forgotten my apple password, I have tried to reset it several days and times but I never get the text message, I am about to throw this phone out, LOL

Not a problem. During the password ***** when you entered your phone number, did you select "Use Trusted Device" or "Use another Device" as an option to reset the password?
