I haven't used it in a while and the password ***** tried to use did not work..

Technician's Assistant: When did you last change your password ***** Apple ID?

I have not changed it, but my grandsons, ages 11& 9, get on it when they visit.

Technician's Assistant: Did you try resetting through Apple's online account reset tool?

I use my laptop most of the time, haven't used in a few months, but it looks like someone updated, not me.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mac Expert to know before I connect you?

I can't think of anything else, it looks like a different setting I don't recognize
