I can find you a great computer that is very inexpensive (about $800) for video editing, but I have never tested it as a hackintosh. Would you like me to send you a link?

Sorry, looks like the price is actually about $1k now.

Nope. The hackintosh part is key
Mac Support Specialist: Ricky Expert, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

I believe this laptop will support Mac OS, but I have never tried it. Is there anything specific you are looking for in terms of hardware?

A speedy graphics card like a GTX 1070ti or RX 580 and osx86 support for switching between Integrated and discrete graphics cards. Are you familiar with the osx86 project? If not I don't think you can help me
Mac Support Specialist: Ricky Expert, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

I know about it but I have not personally worked with it. i will opt-out of this question so another expert who may be more experienced with osx86 can take over.

Interesting. I've gotten a Y520 from Costco and been playing with it. That's the newer version of the one you mentioned I think. Are there any negatives to the new one?
Mac Support Specialist: Justin Johnson, Mac Genius replied 8 months ago

Kexts won't be available for that version as easily for a vanilla install. The version I sent you other have already done and have support for.

What Customers are Saying:

Hi John, Thank you for your expertise and, more important, for your kindness because they make me, almost, look forward to my next computer problem. After the next problem comes, I'll be delighted to correspond again with you. I'm told that I excel at programing. But system administration has never been one of my talents. So it's great to have an expert to rely on when the computer decides to stump me. God bless, Bill
