First thing what do you charge for help? So here's the
Ok so here's the situation... I have a 13" Mid 2012 Macbook Pro with a 1TB HD. I was having some programs freezing and others able to quit ok. I couldn't do a force quit for the other programs and restart didn't work so I did a hard shut down by holding the power button. When I tried to restart I got the apple logo for a while then the circle with a line thru it. I was able to get into recovery mode but disk utility was unable to mount the HD or repair it saying the volume could not be verified completely / invalid record count. I tried to reinstall the macOS but it doesn't allow me to choose the volume bucause no volume appears. I tried to put it into target disc mode to see if I can pull files that were not backed up yet, as last time machine backup was 2 months ago, but was unsuccessful. I tried cmd+s to put it in single user mode for fsck -fy but I don't get a # prompt to be able to type anything. I did notice one line that said BSD root: disk0s2, major 1, minor 3 if that means anything. Lastly I tried to boot into cmd+r again and now get the welcome screen where you can choose your language. Is there anything else to try or should I just wipe it and backup from time machine and lose 2 months of files? Thanks! … read more
