Customer Question
When I went to...

When I went to turn on my iPad, I get an icon of a battery and itunes

Technician's Assistant: What Operating System (OS) are you running on your iPad?

Safari

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been going on with your iPad? What have you tried so far?

I don't use it much, so I went to start it up, and it said the battery was 10%, so I tried to recharge but it wouldn't take it. At this point I have tried nothing because the device won't let me.

OK - to allow me to connect to your PC/MAC, you must install remote access software. The software is below, use the "Family and Friends" version. It's free.
https://www.teamviewer.com/en/
Once installed I need the ID and Password ***** displays, i do not need the one you created, I am looking for the one that TeamViewer gives you when you open the program.
Thanks

please do and I hate this way the messages are going back and forth. It's very time consuming this way.

If you already have the itunes and cord icon that states to plug into itunes then that is what you would need to do as itunes will then try and reinstall the iOS to the ipad. However, since it is already in the state of recovery mode, you will not be able to back up the ipad at this time. Therefore, after you try and restore the phone, if you have any backups that you created previously in itunes or icloud you can always apply those when your done. But in order to get your ipad functioning again you will need to do the following:

  1. Make sure that you're using the latest version of iTunes.
  2. If iTunes is already open, close it. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, borrow one from a friend or family member if needed.
  3. When you see the option to Restore or Update, choose update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data . It may take a while just keep an eye on it as you may need to download the file and open it. Just follow the instructions on the screen and you should be fine. If not let me know

However in step 3 if update is not an option or does not work, repeat the steps and choose restore this time. Remember though restore will need to erase the data.

I am sorry it is time consuming but that is why there is also remote assistance.

What Customers are Saying:

Hi John, Thank you for your expertise and, more important, for your kindness because they make me, almost, look forward to my next computer problem. After the next problem comes, I'll be delighted to correspond again with you. I'm told that I excel at programing. But system administration has never been one of my talents. So it's great to have an expert to rely on when the computer decides to stump me. God bless, Bill
