Customer Question
Hello Pearl! I am...

Hello Pearl! I am in Geneva Switzerland and my Apple iPhone 6.0 shows no additional memory is available for downloading the recent update.

Technician's Assistant: What Operating System (OS) are you running on your iPhone?

I'm not sure where to find out the OS

Technician's Assistant: When did you purchase your iPhone? What troubleshooting have you tried?

About 2 years ago. I tried by deleting photos and some docs but the breakdown shows that a major part of the memory is taken up the system which is 10.19 GB out of the total 16 GB.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mac Expert to know before I connect you?

I am trying to seek advice from your technicians in fixing the memory deficiency without having to lose photos or documents.

for a few months on and off but since a few days ago it constantly shows "iphone Storage Full".
Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

OK - to allow me to connect to your PC/MAC, you must install remote access software. The software is below, use the "Family and Friends" version. It's free.
https://www.teamviewer.com/en/
Once installed I need the ID and Password ***** displays, i do not need the one you created, I am looking for the one that TeamViewer gives you when you open the program.
Thanks
Kris

Thanks Kris I will download the software as you suggested but I am just wondering how your connecting to my PC is going to help resolve my problem with my iPhone?

I would suggest backing up the files and doing a full reset, this will take the system down to 4gb and give you more room.

Do you know how to backup or do you have a copy of everything already?

Ask Your Own Mac Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
I have not copied everything and don't know how to backup
Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

Are you syncing with iCloud?

Ask Your Own Mac Question
Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

Okay then it would be safe to do a reset.

If you reset it all, it will wipe to factory. Once wiped, it will ask you to login to iCloud.

You will be able to do this and get all your info back, along with 5GB memory on the phone.

Note: Can you please rate me at the top so I am credited with my time, 5/5 gives me most credit and would be much appreciated. Thanks.

How do i make sure that everything is synced with iCloud. Just now i noticed that the phone logged out itself out and I cannot log back in for some peculiar reason.
Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

Go to iCloud.com from a web-browser and very everything can be seen there also, this is a good way to check.

I can only see Find my iPhone and when that is done I cannot go further

Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

Do you know how to do this?

Ask Your Own Mac Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
I just said that I don't know where to go from here Kris! NO I don't know how to do this.
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
If I knew how to do it I wouldn't waste my time and yours asking for a step by step way to solve the problem.
Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

Sorry..

To reset your iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset and then select Erase All Content and Settings. After typing in your passcode if you've set one, you'll get a warning box appear, with the option to Erase iPhone in red

Ask Your Own Mac Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
Kris! erasing means losing all applications and that is one of the reasons I refrained from resetting myself. I was expecting a thorough method of identifying the problem and seeking a solution. I will not opt for Erase All Content and Settings and prefer to take my phone to an Apple Store. I regret having taken this option of online assistance and am not happy with the outcome. Thank you for your time and I request a full refund the SFr 31 which was charged for this service.
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
I am not going to request for another Expert only to ask for the refund. I expect you would kindly arrange that. Thank you for your time.
Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

You will not loose anything If you are synced to iCloud.

Once you reset and sign back in all apps and data will auto restore, and your iphone will have more memory.

Ask Your Own Mac Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
I have done this before and lost many documents. That is the main reason why I stopped thinking about resetting.
Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

I did ask about verifying iCloud.

If you go to iCloud.com and login with your account, you will see what is synced to the cloud.

Ask Your Own Mac Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago

Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

Ask Your Own Mac Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
but as i said i am seeking an alternative method of dealing with my problem without having to erase all.
Mac Support Specialist: Kris R, Computer Hardware Engineer replied 8 months ago

There is no other way to clear the cache on an iPhone, this is the only trusted safe method.

Ask Your Own Mac Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
I will firstly transfer all my documents and photos to a Hard Disc to ensure the possibility of their loss.

What Customers are Saying:

Hi John, Thank you for your expertise and, more important, for your kindness because they make me, almost, look forward to my next computer problem. After the next problem comes, I'll be delighted to correspond again with you. I'm told that I excel at programing. But system administration has never been one of my talents. So it's great to have an expert to rely on when the computer decides to stump me. God bless, Bill
