Imessage / FT waiting for activation / sending activation…

Imessage / FT waiting for...
Imessage / FT waiting for activation / sending activation unsuccessful error message after switching to an Israeli sim card. The old American number which is disconnected shows in gray under send and recieve and receive. New number shows in phone setting. Tried all troubleshooting including reset / erase iphone. Nothing works.

The first step is to turn off iMessage and Facetime for three minutes, then turn it back on. To do this:

  1. Tap Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
  2. Tap Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.

  1. Turn on Set Automatically in Settings > General > Date & Time. This automatically sets your date and time based on your time zone. If there’s an available time-zone update, your device lets you know.
  2. Check that your device shows the correct time zone in Settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone.

Okay, next:

Turn off iMessage or Facetime, then log out your Apple ID (from Settings – iTunes and App Store). Log back in again, then turn on iMessage or Facetime once again.

This will start the activation process. If it succeeds, you’ll see a list of previous email addresses and phone numbers that have been associated with the app at some stage. Go through and remove any that are no longer valid, or that you just don’t want to receive messages any longer.

Okay, it is possible that is an issue here, though unlikely so long as it can receive. Apple sends a silent SMS message to the phone in order to activate iMessage and Facetime with the new number, so if this can't get through, or possibly if the phone can't respond, this could be an issue.

Try this:

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Tap on Reset, it's all the way at the bottom.
  4. Tap on Reset Network Settings.
  5. Confirm in the popup.
  6. Your iPhone will reboot

There are two possible issues here: 1) Something is not getting through and therefore it is unable to activate iMessage 2) Your carrier is not an official Apple service provider. These silent messages that Apple sends often cannot get through to carriers who are not "official" carriers.

Alright, here is my last possible solution. Please try this now, even if you've done it before:

Turn off iMessage. Take out the SIM, put it back in and hold sleep/home button until it restarts (you see the Apple logo, then let go). After it restarts, go and turn on iMessage and wait, hopefully it get's activated by phone number.
