I don't get that message when i use an alternate wifi - ical vis a vis google updates perfectly its just on my normal wifi that i get it

basically i have a google account
and i use that account for my calendar
apple ical on my desktop allows me to view and edit that calendar
when on LTE or another wifi network it is fine, but when I use my home network wifi i get that error

No, it's not the wifi. Many others have had this issue. Please go to iCloud.com and login with your icloud account. See if a message comes up. If not, continue to the iCal section and see if it works.

But first, if you have a shared calendar in iCloud, delete all shared calendars. This is the most common fix.

Right, but the iCal is connected to iCloud still. It works on other networks, but does it work on the same device on other networks? Is this happening on your phone or computer?

must be - originally i had a ical calendar but i exceeded limit of 25,000 events so switched to google

The only thing I can think of if there is no shared calendars and logging into icloud.com works fine is to set up a new calendar, delete the old one, and resync it.

It is probably iCal, though it could be an issue with the instance of the calendar on your computer. Is everything backed up on the Google server?

Ok, so delete the calendar and all settings on iCal on your phone. Then reinput it all, as if starting over from scratch with a new computer.
