I was given a used I pad and tried to restore it and

I was given a used I pad and tried to restore it and recieved a 3194 code and have had no luck restoring it
JA: What OS X (Operating System, e.g. Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, etc.) or iOS are you running?
Customer: I have a older laptop that uses windows 7
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: no
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: ?
JA: What confuses you?
Customer: I think my problem is I'm not good with computers
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

To restore the iPad, first try to turn it off with the sync cable unplugged.
Then hold down the home button (iPad still off) and plug in the sync cable from your computer to the iPad. (Keep holding the home button until iTunes pops up).
You will have now entered force recovery mode.
Now try to update the iPad, using iTunes.

I tied using My I tunes and even down loaded the updates and tried it again and ewas given a 3194 code and still no luck . I changed cord and usb port on my computer no luck

Hi, There is one more step that you can try and that is to get the device into DFU mode. Please follow these directions:

Entering DFU Mode on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  1. Plug your device into your computer with a USB cable.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
  4. Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.
  5. Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.
  6. After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.

Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present

If this does not work for you then it is most likely a defective device and you should take it to the Apple Store to see what options they have for you. The method Pete recommended is the first step and DFU Mode is the second step. If these two fail then the device must be having a Hardware issue.
