Second opinion] in Apple ID hell. I am trying to reset my password ********@******.***. I have to use security questions rather than email, because I have long since lost my ipad. One of the security questions is "who was your best friend in high school". There are only 2 possible answers and it won't accept either of them!

Technician's Assistant: When did you last reset your Apple ID or password?

Years ago...

Technician's Assistant: Have you installed any updates recently?

No. Like I say, I lost my Ipad. The reason I am doing this is because (this is embarrassing) I have also forgotten my password ***** Facebook and I am trying to get THAT Straightened out so that I can log on this morning.

Technician's Assistant: What troubleshooting have you tried?

Facebook advises me to have an email for password ***** sent to my icloud email...but I can't get into that email without a password. Circular...

If time is of the essence, the fastest way in which I can help you is
via a secure remote connection. That will provide a temporary
connection where I can fix this problem on screen, in person.

Try both those answers with an upper case and then try all lower case. The answer may be right,

but it has to be 'exact' for security questions.

You can reset your password ***** this manner or we can try to find it in your computer if it was stored.

Lets try the following steps to reset your apple id password, Go to the link below, enter your apple id.

https://iforgot.apple.com/

After entering your apple id, either answer your security questions and reset your password. Or , have an email sent to your email address. Then open your email and click the reset link inside that email to reset your password.

Once you have set a new password. Turn your device off, then back on and try to sign in with the apple id and the new password ***** just set.
