My iMac will not completely start up. It gets to the screen and apps start but I can't select a file.
JA: How much experience do you have with this particular machine?
Customer: I have used it for 5 years

JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: i can't access anything to try to fix it.

Hi there and welcome

Can you power it off

Then hold SHIFT and with it held, power it on until you get to the sign in screen then sign in

Does it then work?
