I have a new Imac. I have a external Iomega backup drive

I have a new Imac. I have a external Iomega backup drive LDHD080-u
I used it for back up of my old IMAC. I connected it to my new Mac and everything transfed. But now I get an error message that I dont have enough space to perform a current back up. In the past the newest backup deleted my oldest back up.
When i go into finder I can see any files to be deleted.

You have to erase the drive or get a new one it is full.

Ok turn off Time Machine then open the Disk Utility select the drive and erase it name it something different then add it back to Time Machine and turn it back on.
