We have a MacBook Pro and we are trying to use a new Apple

Customer Question

Hi! We have a MacBook Pro and we are trying to use a new Apple external DVD player but cannot get it to work. Says it doesn't support Disk... What are we doing wrong?
JA: What OS X (Operating System, e.g. Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, etc.) or iOS are you runninng?
Customer: We are not computer smart. Just updated a while ago and pic of rust colored mountains.. sorry. Not El Cap
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Within the last month or so
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Not sure since we just aren't too good at this. We plugged in the unit to play a dvd. Thought it might show up on the screen.
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No. Just want to have someone walk us though this simple task. Thanks.
