I'm moving playlists/ songs in iTunes and my mouse suddenly

I'm moving playlists/ songs in iTunes and my mouse suddenly has lost ability to drag and drop files/songs
JA: What OS X (Operating System, e.g. Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, etc.) or iOS are you runninng?
Customer: Sierra
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: not that I'm aware since Sierra
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I've checked mouse settings, battery quality and help via google. next step is to switch off I think and then switch on again
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Only that over past 24 hours the mouse seems to bring up drop down menus all over the place when I simply click!

Did the mouse drag and drop function recover when you turned the Mac off and on again?

Problem seems to have corrected itself and yes i have since rebooted.
