apple i pad. My grandauther tried to access (she is 5) and the ipad has locked me out. I forgot my password ***** I can't seem to nagivate yout system. It says it will send me an e mail on how to reset but I don't get anythingr
JA: When did you last reset your username and password?
Customer: ages ago. perhaps when I first bought it about 5 years or so ago
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: not to my knowledge . I am not very good at computers so I tend to not install anything unless it is done automatically. I may have tampered with drop box which I use for music
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I can,t get into the ipad. I type in my 4 didget pass and that is as far as I can get The screen told me to go to this e system and here i am

The only way to bypass the lock is to perform a factory reset..

  1. From a computer, go to
  2. If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID
  3. Click All Devices at the top of your browser window.
  4. Select the device you want to erase.
  5. Click Erase [device] to erase your device and its passcode.
  6. Now you can restore from a backup.
