I have an Apple TV and when I go to rent a movie my ITunes

I have an Apple TV and when I go to rent a movie my ITunes ID pops up and it is correct and then I am asked to log in my password, which I do and then sometimes I am asked to enter a code and I do that....and then this loop goes again...asking ID< then password ***** then a 6 number code....I am stuck in a loop....I have unplugged the Apple TV device 3-4 times and I have gone to settings and hit restart twice...all to no avail...
JA: When did you last reset your Apple ID or password?
Customer: I haven't resent the Apple ID but I did reset the password ***** and it hasn't worked since then
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: no
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I have restarted it twice...and I have unplugged it 3-4 times for the TV
