Welcome to, my name is Dustin.
I'm sorry to hear about the issue you are having, I will do my best to help you resolve it.

The previous expert has opted out.. So lets try a couple of repairs. Lets start here.

Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.
Turn on your Mac.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound.
Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.
Release the keys.

Can you see anything on the screen now? If not, try this next

  1. Turn y our mac off...Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time.
  2. Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac

Let me know if these steps change anything.

I strive to provide great service, and greatly appreciate a 5 star rating clicked and submitted when you are satisfied.. I always answer follow up questions.

first step hasn't changed anything. how do I shut down by keyboard?
Expert:  Dustin replied 8 months ago.

Youll have to either hold the power button, or physically unplug the mac from the wall.

And if you didnt have the mac completely powered down before step 1, then you may need to repeat step 1~

still no joy just getting start up noise and no screen
Expert:  Dustin replied 8 months ago.

In that case, you need to follow this well written procedure, run the pram reset again..

And then, focus on the diagnostic lights.. As thats going to tell us what part has failed.,+no+video,+backlight+visible,+white+led+showing!+Help!

Take your time, and let me know what the led lights tell us and we will go from there.
