Customer Question

Over the weekend it started to not wake up after it sleeps. Force restarting the MacBook stalls halfway thru most of the time. The apple icon looks striped if that indicates anything.
JA: Just to clarify, how old is your MacBook and what operating system are you running?
Customer: 5 years or so and it is not the current OS. YOsemite I think
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: i don't know. I don't update every time it asks. The last time may have been 3 weeks or so.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: i have tried to restart while holding ctrl and r, but nothing happens. When I release than the normal restart starts until it stalls.
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

I was able to restart normally after the battery completely died. I ran First Aid on Disk Utility and update the 2 pending updates for OS El Capitan. I have had any issues the last 2 evenings, so I am in the clear for now.
