My iPad updated and then had me choose a new 6-digit code number which I did. Then it wanted my password ***** I gave & it wouldn't accept it - I requested a new one, got a phone call with a tempory 6 digit number, then as requested, typed in a new password. Then it wouldn't accept my email address which I have used for years. So now I'm locked out & can't use my iPad at all
JA: When did you last reset your username and password?
Customer: A few minutes ago when it asked for my username & password. I couldn't remember the username, and gave the new password ***** asked for earlier.
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Just the one apple requested an hour or so ago.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I've given up; it says it doesn't locate a record with my email address but it's the only one I've used for years.
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Can't think of anything...thanks.

Have you tried restoring it?

THis will bypass the passcode. However If iCloud Lock is enabled this will need to be reset also
