I migrated my 2008 Adobe photoshop from my old 2008 MacBook

Customer Question

I migrated my 2008 Adobe photoshop from my old 2008 MacBook to a new MacBook Pro, and now I am unable to open my photoshop pictures. I downloaded the Java for OS10 from Apple but once it was installed I got a error message stating it was no longer supported. What can I do to open my pictures?
JA: Just to clarify, how often have you been getting this particular message?
Customer: I never got on my 2008 MacBook. Only today on the MacBook Pro
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Lots. Updates with Apple El Capitan, Sierra, and several of the other Apple Apps.
JA: Anything else you want the software expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I cannot think of anything offhand.

You don't need to use Photoshop to view the pictures. You can use lots of other software, e.g. Paint.NET:

You will need to download and install Paint.NET first from .

Then you have to download the psdplugin from, unzip and copy the PhotoShop.dll to the “FileTypes” folder in the Paint.NET directory.

Make sure Paint.NET is not running while installing the plugin.

Now you can open PSD files.

Let me know how it works out...
