Do you have Dropbox app on your iPhone ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it says wait for photos to finish
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i have dropbox
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Give it 5-10 minutes to process as you have large number of photos. If it is not responding, then Force Quit iPhoto (Press Command, Option, Esck and click Force Quick after selecting iPhoto)

Apps like Dropbox usually cause these kind of problem. Can you delete Dropbox from your iPhone, then import the photos to Photos/iPhoto and then you can reinstall Dropbox back ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
will i loose whats on my dropbox?
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Nope. That is only a client application. All your stuffs are stored on www.dropbox.com

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok i deleted the app from my phone
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

If iPhoto is not respnding, then force quit it. Open it and reimport.

Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

As long as you don't press Delete on iPhoto, the photos will be safe on iPhone. So you can safely close it, open it again and import them. If they get stuck again, then let me know and we can try different method to import

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
okay
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i did the force quit
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Let me know how it goes

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Unplug it. Then open iPhoto. Import again.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Force Quit it. Close Photos app. Create a folder on your Home folder or Desktop folder or Documents folder and name it like "From iPhone"

Then go to Applications folder and open Image Capture application. Select your iPhone in left column. This will load all photos in Image capture.

Now select that created folder in Image capture in the "Import To". Then click Import All.

Remember, DO NOT select Desktop there.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i opened iPhoto. then the old import was so i closed it. my device is still plugged in
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Easy way. Disconnect iPhone. Open iPhoto. Then click and drag and drop the photos folder from desktop to iPhoto icon on dock. This should import the photos.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i did it the first way and I think its woking.
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Ok, let me know how it goes

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok this is going to take a while lol
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

This should be fast compared to the process from iPhone. Make sure iPhone is not connected.

Also I'd recommend to backup the folder you created on desktop to an external hard drive. After importing the photos to iPhoto, you can delete that photos folder from desktop. But make a backup to external hard drive first

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok thank you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
5,721 remaining
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Fingers crossed !

And FYI You can use Image Capture to import from almost all devices including scanners

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
yayyy great to know
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

:)

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok the count down ended.... now it says finishing import
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

So far so good. Once it is finished, just do a quick scroll through your photos and make sure they are there. And open some random photos and see if they can open

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
its saying 287 files are unrecognized.which appear to all end with MOV
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Those are the video files and you should see these files on the folder you created on desktop. You can open the videos directly from that folder. You can move them to another folder if you want keeping the videos separated.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
which appear to all end in MOV and MP4
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok but then will i be able to add them into iTunes
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Yes, MP4 to iTunes. But I believe iTunes will not accept MOV to sync. But try it

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
what is MOV? there videos i created with my iPhone
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Quicktime movie formats. They can be played with Quicktime player.

Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

iPhoto doesn't deal well with videos. So separate the videos from that folder in desktop to another folder. You can play those videos from that folder.

Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

How is it going ? Are you able to open them in Quicktime player ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i can open it and then have to convert it and save to then add to iPhoto
Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Try this. Open iPhoto. Connect the iPhone to your Mac. Now it will load all photos and videos. Select only the video files and Import them. Does iPhoto import them ?

Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.

Were you able to import them to iPhoto ?

Expert:  Ashik replied 1 year ago.
