You wont lose your mac pics , unless you go into your pictures folder and start deleting your iphoto library file or other pictures.

For now, we need to focus on repairing iphoto. To get started, please check your mac osx version as follows. Click the apple sign at the top left of your screen, then click about this mac. And then where it says version, send that to me as a reply.
