I updated my iPad but can't get in because I 't know my i.d.

Customer Question

I updated my iPad but can't get in because I don't know my i.d. or password. I asked my son and he said he didn't know either - he set it up three or four years ago for me.

Welcome to, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to assist you.

Did you use your ipad in conjunction with a mac or a pc with itunes installed?

If so, do you still have that mac or pc with you?

Just send instructions to desktop computer.
Expert:  Dustin replied 1 year ago.

You said no, then you said to send instructions to your desktop computer.

Do you have a desktop computer then? And if so, is it a mac or a pc?

And also, do you have itunes on that desktop computer?

Please answer all the questions I am asking so I can help you find and recover your apple id.

Thank you,

Dustin S.

My desktop computer is a Mac. I don't think I have iTunes -- have never used it.

We need to check and see if you have itunes. because if you have itunes, then your apple id should match your ipad ( usually )

Can you go to your applications, and see if itunes is there?

Or, go to your finder / spotlight, type in itunes

And then launch the itunes app.. Do you have it installed on your mac?

My son says I have itunes on the iPad, but have never used it. He said I need to look for where I wrote down my Apple I.D. and Password.
Expert:  Dustin replied 1 year ago.

To use the ipad, you would have to set up an apple id.

If you cannot get into your ipad at all, then you wont be able to use the ipad to recover your apple id and password.

Thats why I asked specifically about a computer or mac.

as thats our best chance at finding your apple id and password, so we can regain access to your ipad.

My son used his iPhone and completely fixed my iPad last nite and put some more free apps on it. I wrote down the new password ***** hopefully I'm O.K.
