If you cannot reach her then it sounds like she knew she was scamming you. It is very possible that the iPad was not even hers.
There isn't anything you can do because the iPad is locked to the owner-- It is a security feature.
No, there isn't. It sounds like the person knowingly sold you a stolen iPad.
What website did you purchase it off of?
The person was standing outside of your job?
After hearing more and more about the situation, you were definitely scammed. The iPad was stolen and she put on an act so that you felt sorry for her. These types of scams are very common and have small variations but they happen outside of work, gas stations, banks, etc.
I would suggest that you contact the police and file a police report so hopefully they can catch the person because it is more than likely that they will do it again.
You're very welcome. I am sorry that you were scammed but please report this to the police so it doesn't happen to someone else.
