I was reading about what you wrote to someones question about iMac starting up to a black screen. I have that problem and I am able to divert the main screen to an external monitor. So the computer works fine, just the screen is black. Is there anything I can do to get the screen back before taking it to the Apple Store?

Hello there! My name is***** and I will be assisting you today. Follow the steps below to try and reset your video card.
1. Disconnect power.
2. Hold power button for 20 seconds ( atleast)
3.Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys
4.then turn on your mac
5.make sure to hold these keys till your mac resets 4 times.
