I plugged my iphone 5 into power cord (the outlet was dead, it was a kitchen one that needed to be reset) and the phone went blank. I can't restart it.

Lets first connect it to a charger or to the computer for 15-20 minutes. Then try a reset by pressing and holding the power button and the home button together for 30 sec.
