Everytime I try to open my MS Excel on my Macbook Pro an error

Customer Question

Everytime I try to open my MS Excel on my Macbook Pro an error pops up saying:

"Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I check where it says to pease tell Microsoft this problem but to NO avail.

What could be the problem? It was working fine just a few weeks ago.

Hello, my name is Dan.
I will do my best to help you, the only stupid question is the unasked one.

Please tell me which version of OS X you have on your Mac.

Have you updated any software, Apple or otherwise, lately?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I have OS X 10.8.4

Expert:  Daniel replied 3 years ago.
Two things to start with Miguel.
One is to repair permissions, thi sPDF explains how and why.

Then run Software update from the Apple menu, there are updates to 10.8.

After doing that then try MS again. Let me know what happens please.

I need to find my MS Office key for Excel and enter it - lets see if that works
Expert:  Daniel replied 3 years ago.
So that is now the error message? If so then the key is the only thing that will.
Do you back up regularly? It can save many hours of recovery and many fewer headaches.
