I have U-verse. As of yesterday, I have no new emails on my computer. I normally receive an average of 43 emails each day. If you can't direct me to correct this, I have to pay $150.00 to have a repair person come to my home to correct this. I can't afford that.

Okay, then please login to your webmail account and check weather you have more emails in the inbox or not. Open http://www.sbcglobal.net/ on the top right side click - MAIL Check mail link. Enter you full email address and password XXXXX login. Let me know is there more emails other than Apple Mail downloaded.

I waited for a reply from you but didn't yet get any. So please try to rebuild your inbox to fix the issue.

Open apple mail and select the mail inbox in the left pane of Apple Mail. Then choose "Rebuild" iunder the Mailbox Menu Item. Then send/receive mails again and let me know the result.
