How did you do that exactly? Did you boot from your installation disk? What system version?

Found the problem. The new drive had to be formatted. How can I determine if the info on the old drive is retrievable? Have all of the disk for reloading the laptop.

You would need to get an external drive enclosure to plug the old one in and see.
