how to I add a second layer as in placing a persons face in another picture
Hello, my name is Dan.
I will do my best to help you, the only stupid question is the unasked one.

What software are you using for this?
I have done many of what you are attempting, it is called PhotoShopping.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

photoshop elements 11

That version is just out but should be little different from 10.
First open the photo you wish to modify and get it to a size easy to work on.
Now open the photo you want to copy a feature or face.
Enlarge that to center the face and use the magnetic lasso tool.
Carefully trace around the object and click where you started to close the loop.
Say I want this bird head.

So I cut it with the lasso.
That is the dotted line.
Then drag just that cut to the other photo in the project bin.
Move it into place.
Use the clone tool on the layer with the blue birds head to clone what it does not cover.
That is just a real quick 'how to' there is much more in the Help for PhotoShop.
Or goto the App store and get the Learn PhotoShop for $7.00.

Try that and let me know how you do.
