Sadly, there are no third-party applications able to access the majority of commercially produced DVRs. For the most part, manufacturers use a proprietary format to stream video data to a client, and that client is almost always an active-x component in IE, or is otherwise, a dedicated application provided by the DVR manufacturer.

So can you please give the manufacturer and model details of your DVR ? Then we can check weather it is MAc compatible or not.

There's a program called security spy that works with Macs. I think it will work for you..

http://www.bensoftware.com/ss/index.html

Download their 30 day trial version and check weather it is compatible with your device.

Also visit http://www.a1securitycameras.com/IP-Video-Surveillance-Software.html to check their mac compatible devices and programs.

Hi Mark, actually there is no direct way to access your DVR from a mac. But I want to recommend two methods.

IE On MAC

I believe through internet explorer you can access your DVR. So please follow these steps to run IE on your mac.

If it not helps, you need to

Run Windows within your MAC

You can run windows inside your mac virtually. Then I hope, you can access DVR from that windows. Please click here to see the details on installing windows in mac.

Hi Mark, Most of DVR's Remote viewing only compatible with Internet Explorer. Other browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari etc. are not supported. Because some activex controls with Internet Explorer are using to share the video remotely. So I believe installing IE on your mac as I stated above is a solution for you.

But, if it not helps, you can emulate iPhone in safari of your mac. You said you can see the video on your iPhone. Then I hope emulating will work for you..

  1. In Safari, click on Edit on menu bar, and go to Preferences.

Tip: If menu bar is hidden, press Alt key to reveal and show the menu bar.

  2. Go to Advanced tab.
  3. Select and check the checkbox for Show Develop menu in menu bar option.

    Enable Develop Menu in Safari

  4. Close the Preferences dialog window, and a new “Develop” menu will show in the menu bar.
  5. Click on Develop on menu bar, and then select User Agent in the pull down menu. A list of commonly used user agents are listed. Select any of (Mobile Safari 3.1.2 – iPhone, Mobile Safari 3.1.2 – iPod touch, Mobile Safari 2.2.1 – iPhone, Mobile Safari 2.2.1 – iPod touch) Then your safari on mac will work like the browser you selected.

Change and Spoof Safari User Agent String

Click here to see more about Emulating iPhone (Change User Agent) in Safari and Firefox Web Browser.

If this method also not working, sorry there is no solution for your need.

If you think I helped you give me a positive rating. Then only I will get paid for my time and efforts. A good bonus will make me more happy. If you are not satisfied you can leave without rating my answer and you can ask for the refund of your security deposit.
