We can reset the PRAM and NVRAM and also reset the SMC of your Mac.
Reset SMC (System Management Controller)
Before we start, please remember these things. It may take more than one step/answer to solve a problem. We can reset the PRAM and NVRAM and also reset the SMC of your Mac.
Reset PRAM and NVRAM
- Shut down your Mac
- Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R.
- Turn on the computer.
- Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears and before the chime sound.
- Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for three times.
- Release the keys.
Reset SMC (System Management Controller)
- Shut down the computer.
- Unplug the computer's power cord.
- Wait fifteen seconds.
- Attach the computer's power cord.
- Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

seem like the problem might be the graphic card on your computer is defective.
what you can do is plugged in a external monitor using vga adapter that come with your imac. If both lcd panel and external monitor turn off and wont go back on again thats mean the internal build-in graphic card is unstable and defective.
since you imac only couple of months old you can bring to Apple Store and have them replaced the graphic card for you.
or you can go to link below and setup to send in your imac for repair.
