Apple OSX does not recognize web addresses starting with TOMTOM this is where I need to go to update the maps on my GPS. FromXXX@XXXXXX.XXX or XXXXXXXXXX
Hi, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will do whatever I possibly can to help answer your questions.

What exactly did the error in TomTomHome say?

If there was an error in other software, what exactly was the error?

Thanks in advance,
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

This is the screen response under "Failed to open page": Safari can't open "tomtomhome:task:update" because OS X doesn't recognize internet addresses starting with tomtomhome.

This response followed linking the GPS device to the computer and requesting update of maps.

Please download and install the latest version of TomTomHome:

Let me know if that fails, we can try changing the default browser to Chrome.

Since this a new iMac, I just downloaded TomTomHome. I must assume that the source carries the very latest. So, let's change to Chrome, although I don't like it . . .

To test with Chrome, download and install it.

Then go to Safari Preferences and set Chrome as the default. Then try update through TomTomHome.

Please get back to me if it fails.
