Can you go straight to 10.7 rather than 10.6? Can you buy 10.6 or 10.7 via the apple web site?
Unfortunately No. As per Apple's policy, you must have atleast 10.6 Snow Leopard. No, Apple doesn't sell 10.6 and 10.7 anymore.
