Hello my name is Freddy. I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible. It looks like your question did not come through fully. All I have is what you already tried changing the port numbers, what exactly are you having trouble with?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Cannot send email from overseas on my iPod. Can receive ok.
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 5 years ago.
What email service are you using? When you try to send what happens?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I'm using hotel wi-fi. I get a response that my smtp.vodafone.co.nz cannot be accessed.
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 5 years ago.
Is that the exact error? If not please give me the exact error message including any numbers.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Cannot send mail. The connection to the outgoing server "Anton.vodafone.co.nz"failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calamders.
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 5 years ago.
Can you try it somewhere else with a free wifi connection like a coffee shop? Some hotels block outgoing traffic like smtp servers and uploading servers in general.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
No. Have had this problem throughout my trip in Australia, S. Africa, Namibia and now Botswana
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 5 years ago.
Ok what email service are you using? This is the part of your email address after the @ symbol.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Vodafone.co.nz
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 5 years ago.
Do you have authentication set to enabled?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I do see any enabled box. I see following headings:
Password
Apple Token
MDS Challenge Response
NTLM
HTTP MD5 Digest

None of above are ticked.
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 5 years ago.
You should see the authentication option the same place you enter the smtp server.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
When I hit the authentication box I get the list I just sent you. No "on/off" option.
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 5 years ago.
Ok choose the password option from that list then.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Have done that. Am getting a "a verifying" message which seems to be going on for ever??
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 5 years ago.
It can take a few minutes, once it is finished try to send an email to yourself and see if you can receive it.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Sorry for delay. Am still trying. Come back so I have reply box to send you when I have new news.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
No joy so far. Outgoing mail still bouncing as before with same error message.
