Were you syncing the old iPad with iTunes or iCloud?

You may have a backup you can restore to the new iPad.

Open iTunes

Click the Edit menu (Or iTunes in the menubar, if on a Mac).

Choose Preferences

Choose Devices

Do you see any backups listed for your old iPad?

Click OK to close Preferences if you haven't already.

Plug in the iPad

When it appears in the iTunes sidebar, Right click on the listing and choose "Restore from backup". Choose the newest backup, if prompted and when it is finished, it should contain the data previously on your old iPad.
