Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible.

Give this a try first and let me know if this does not work:

Try a hard reset by holding down the Sleep/Wake + Home button simultaneously for 10 seconds or more and shortly you will see an Apple logo appears on the screen.

It reset and appears to work. When the device froze it said icloud backup couldnt proceed because there was not enough memory. However 47GB were still available. How do I prevent this from happening again. What memory was full and how do I empty it.

This is an extremely unusual error.

Make sure you have the latest iOS updates installed.

Thank you,
