I cannot open my itunes since last update. I keep receiving

I cannot open my itunes since last update. I keep receiving a message which says "the file"itunes library cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes." I do not understand because I was just on it a couple days prior to receiving this error message
Go to Start / Apple Software Update and run that.
