The number of emails that are allowed to be sent at one time are limited by your email service.
Who is your email provider?
As far as Gmail goes, you are limited to sending an email to only 500 people a day.
If you are using an external email application, you may be limited to 100 recipients at a time for each email.
Your account will be temporary disabled if you try and send such a large amount of emails.
Please, take a look at Gmail's explanation of this at the following website: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=22839
