got a new i phone. powered it off at the Dr's office. turned it back on & got an incoming call & it froze. cant answer. cant go to other areas on phone. can't turn off. cant get to the battery...what do I do

Hold the Home button (near the center base of the phone) and the Sleep button (on the top left) together for 10 seconds, until the screen turns black. Then, release them, and hold the sleep button for several seconds, until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
