I just loaded some updates on my Mac Pro and now I cant login.

Customer Question

I just loaded some updates on my Mac Pro and now I can't login. I put in my password, it changes to a blank blue screen and then comes back to my login page. The screen doesn't shake "no" as if I have put in the wrong password, it just keeps coming back to the login screen.

Welcome to JustAnswer! I'm John. As I and other Experts work on your question, it
would help to know the following information, if you please:

* What version of OS X are you using? To obtain this information, click on the
Apple icon at top left, then choose About This Mac from the menu. The numbers to
the right of Version is what I'm looking for.

* One thing I would suggest you try is to reset the PRAM/NVRAM to see whether this resolves your gray screen issue. Here are the steps to perform this procedure:

Resetting PRAM & NVRAM
-----------------------------------

1) Shut down the computer

2) Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You
will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4

3) Turn on the computer

4) Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key
combination before the gray screen appears

5) Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound
for the second time

6) Release the keys

Please let me know whether this has any impact on your gray screen.

Thank you for trusting us with your question. Answering these questions will help us help you more effectively and will ensure a quality solution for you so please be as thorough and descriptive as possible.

Regards,
John

Did you hear the two chimes, then let go of the buttons?
